New neutrino test unable to prove Einstein wrong .

Neutrinos Are Not Faster Than Light
The ICARUS experiment at the Italian Gran Sasso laboratory has reported a new measurement of the time of flight of neutrinos from CERN to Gran Sasso. The ICARUS measurement, using last year's short pulsed beam from CERN, indicates that the neutrinos do not exceed the speed of light on their journey between the two laboratories. This is at odds with the initial measurement reported by OPERA last September.
The evidence is beginning to point towards the OPERA result being an artefact of the measurement. The new experiment has independent timing from OPERA and measured seven neutrinos in the beam from CERN last year. These all arrived in a time consistent with the speed of light."The new experiment has provided an important cross check of the anomalous result reports from OPERA last year,New experiment measures the neutrino's velocity to be no faster than the speed of light. These are difficult and sensitive measurements to make and they underline the importance of the scientific process. The new experiment Projection Chamber is a novel detector which allows an accurate reconstruction of the neutrino interactions comparable with the old bubble chambers with fully electronics acquisition systems. The fast associated scintillation pulse provides the precise timing of each event, and has been exploited for the neutrino time-of-flight measurement. This technique is now recognized world wide as the most appropriate for future large volume neutrino detectors.

What is ICARUS ?

(Imaging Cosmic and Rare Underground Signals)

The ICARUS program concerns the usage of Liquid Argon (LAr) detector for studies of neutrinos from CNGS beam. The ICARUS detector filled with 600 tons of liquid argon, T600, has started data taking in 2010 (see neutrino eventGallery). The detector is placed at the undeground laboratory in Gran Sasso. The advantage of the LAr detector is its excellent spatial and calorimetric resolution which makes possible a perfect visualization of tracks of the charged particles.

icarus_detectorThe technology of the Liquid Argon Time Projection Chamber (LAr TPC), was first proposed by Professor Carlo Rubbia in 1977, was conceived as a tool for a completely uniform imaging with high accuracy of very massive volumes (several thousand tons). ICARUS is the first large scale detector, exploiting this detection technique. Originally, it was planned to perform the detector upgrade up to 2-3 ktons, by adding modules similar to the existing ones. In 2005 the decision was taken to change the concept in favor of a monolithic detector of this scale.

What is OPERA?
The Oscillation Project with Emulsion-Racking Apparatus (OPERA) is an instrument used in a scientific experiment for detecting tau neutrinos from muon neutrino oscillations. The experiment is a collaboration between CERN in Geneva, Switzerland, and the Laboratori Nazionali del Gran Sasso (LNGS) in Gran Sasso, Italy and uses the CERN Neutrinos to Gran Sasso (CNGS) neutrino beam.

Do we have a conclusive confirmation of the OPERA result? The scientific community has not yet declared anything regarding the neutrino results conclusively. Interpretations are mounting and some has already pointed out that there are some problems with the OFC in OPERA experiment. But the scientific community has yet to declare its final conclusion. Given this "New neutrino test unable to prove Einstein wrong" seems to be too strong a conclusion to be drawn.
"As a Physics teacher I do believe in Great EINSTEIN" this funny statement proves nothing and we have history of science which says that the great Einstein was wrong about many things.(This doesn't undermine his greatness.)

Sorry !!! Let me believe in Great EINSTEIN, I am an Einstein fan.Other wise I have to believe the accuracy of these machines rather than his unconquered brain.
